Chair of Governors Letter

5th January 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

At the start of this Spring Term I want to say how much we welcome the arrival of our new Head of School – Vanessa Higgins. We were delighted to offer the post to Vanessa and as Governors we will be working with her to ensure that your children receive a very good primary education with us. We are united in our determination to ensure that Whitesheet School flourishes and governors will be in close touch with the progress being made.

Vanessa Higgins is a very experienced and gifted primary school teacher. She comes to us having been Deputy Head and Inclusion Manager at a large school in Weymouth. She will be leading and teaching Maths in the School and is very experienced in working with children with special educational needs.

I am certain that Vanessa will build on the excellent work done last term by Mrs Sprague. They have met frequently and discussed the strategy needed for further school improvement. I am confident the transition will be seamless as they agree on what makes for excellence in primary school education.

I did appreciate how much parents supported our many Christmas celebrations. On Sunday 14th January at 10.00am in Zeals Church we will be welcoming Vanessa to this Church School at a special Commissioning Service. We hope that parents and children will be able to join us. The support of the whole school community is important to Vanessa and you attendance, as parents, will be particularly appreciated.

Whitesheet School will continue to grow and flourish – a joint venture shared by parents, children, school staff, governors and the community. At this exciting time for the School I would like to thank you for the part that you play. Working together we will succeed in growing a happy positive environment in which all our children can thrive.

Yours sincerely

Margaret Martin
